Product Details – Extraordinary Science – Innovation and Beyond
Who is it for?
You will find resources here for all year groups from EYFS/P1 to Year 6/P7. Each class teacher will be able to plan their own experience, using the age-appropriate activities.
Exploring:
Innovation and Beyond looks at some of the innovations from across the ages, that have changed the way we live our lives – and to the work of three black innovators who should be much more widely known than they are. EYFS/KS1 look at Mae Jemison (the first black woman astronaut) … Years 3 and 4 explore Elijah McCoy (whose innovations revolutionised the railways) … and Years 5 and 6 focus on Charles Richard Drew (whose understanding of blood transfusions saved countless lives in WW2 – and whose legacies live on today).
What is included?
All of the resources have been designed in line with curriculum requirements, differentiated from Reception to Year 6 / P1 – P7. The package includes an opening film to introduce the activity, PowerPoint quizzes, themed maths worksheets (with master answer sheets for teachers) and themed literacy activities (with writing frameworks).
How does it work?
Once you have purchased the package you and your colleagues will have access to the whole bank of Innovation and Beyond resources to use how and when you please. Class teachers can use the structure we have suggested, or work to one of their own. Of course, you don’t have to use the resources as part of a whole-school event. You may want to offer the experience to one key stage, one year group, or even just one class.
